Alex Dombrandt

England fans will remember Alex Dombrandt from his outstanding performance in the Quilter Cup game against the Barbarians at Twickenham.Making a first outing for the England XV side, he crossed the whitewash twice in a Man of the Match performance where his powerful ball carrying and deft off-loading skills were on show. Dombrandt made his Test debut against Canada in July 2021 and, in 2022, scored a try in England's 23-19 win over Wales at Twickenham in the Six Nations. The Harlequins No.8 featured in the 2023 and 2024 Guinness Men’s Six Nations, and was recently named in Steve Borthwick's squad for the 2024 Summer Series tour of Japan and New Zealand.

What is a Back Row?

The back row consists of two flankers and the No 8. The blind-side flanker wears six and the open-side flanker seven, both specialising in big tackles and winning possession through turnovers. They are fearless, strong and fast to the breakdown. The No 8 secures the ball at the base of the scrum, is an attacking link between forwards and backs and a real force when defending.
