Register to play

From the 2024/25 season, all players in all formats of the game (including non-contact) will be required to register themselves annually to play rugby for RFU member clubs.

Players will register using their Game Management System (GMS) account and clubs will approve or deny their registration. This is per RFU Regulations 13 & 14.

In previous seasons, player registration has been done by clubs on behalf of their players.

To get ready for the 2024/25 season, the RFU is asking clubs to make sure players’ email addresses are verified on GMS. For guidance on how to do this, visit Community Rugby Help.

Club Registration

If you have never been registered with a club in England, create a GMS account and register to play.

This will allow you to play at Counties 3 (Level 9) and below in the men’s game or National Challenge 2 (Level 5) and below in the women’s game.

If you play in leagues and competitions above these levels, your club will need to submit an RFU Registration for you.

RFU Registration

The type of RFU Registration you will need depends on the competition and leagues your club competes in. After your club has submitted the RFU registration, you will need to review and approve it.
