A tribute to three wonderful young men

Rugby union played a big part in the lives of Aaron Bell and Louis Banks, who died in a road accident alongside their friend Tommy Shevels last July.

The loss of these young men has been devastating for their families, friends, the wider rugby family and their community and now Wensleydale Rugby Club and Bishop Burton College will be celebrating their lives with a charity rugby match on May 27.

Aaron (18) and Louis (17) joined Wensleydale club when they were seven and were much valued members of a squad that at U14 reached the Yorkshire Cup Finals. Aaron had played for the club's first XV and was a try-scoring wing and all-round sportsman, who represented the Bishop Burton College Academy team, while his schoolfriend and teammate Louis was a talented scrum half.

They and their friend Tommy (18) are a great loss to all who knew them and a statue has been erected remembering them in Masham’s Market Square.

Wensleydale Rugby Club will host a match against Bishop Burton College on May 27, kicking off at 3pm, and would love to see as many people as possible there to honour their teammates and friends. The club will be serving local refreshments, there will be a barbeque and raffle.

They are also looking for any sponsors, if you would like to help support these great charities please contact: Nicola Bell-Percy or Alan Noon. The game will raise vital funds for three charities: Young Minds, Brake and Yorkshire Air Ambulance, and be a fitting tribute to three wonderful young men.
