“I loved my first session, despite it being rainy and cold. The group of women were so lovely and everyone took me under their wing, gave me tips and talked me through the touch game we played.

“Since then, at every training I have turned up to, everyone makes you feel so comfortable; I absolutely love it.

“I’d encourage anyone who’s been thinking about trying the sport to just get out there and give it a go. You won’t regret it. It’s been such a positive experience for me, so much so that I’ve volunteered to be the club’s recruitment officer this season.

“In September we ran our first Allianz Inner Warrior Camp of the season which was a great success and it was lovely to see newbies getting involved. I encouraged a friend to come along and I’m hoping she’ll catch the rugby bug too.”

I’m already looking forward to running the next camp which we’ll be holding on 12 January at 7pm at Old Bristolians.”

Part of the Allianz Inner Warrior campaign to introduce or welcome women back to the sport, Allianz Inner Warrior Camps are a series of fun, social fitness camps for women and girls. 

Over 4,000 women and girls took part in Allianz Inner Warrior Camps throughout England between May and September 2021. Many will have been inspired to keep playing as Beth Oldbury has.
