Cambridge University women keep pace with the men
Each year sees Cambridge University men’s team take on an invitational Micky Steele-Bodger XV, with this year’s match on 24th November.
Now, on the eve of that event, and commemorating the first Women’s Varsity Match in 1988, an invitational XV will play the Light Blue women at Grange Road.
This inaugural invitational match for the women's team will help to give their game an equal profile with the men's for Cambridge residents and the business community.
Equal footing with the men's. With the women's 1st team in the BUCS Premier South Division, the encounter will be great preparation for the 2022 Varsity Match.
It kicks off a week of celebratory events for the 150th Anniversary season of Cambridge rugby, with the Varsity Match for men and women returning to the Twickenham pitch but later than previously in the season.
The Varsity will now take place on Saturday 2 April, the same weekend as the Boat Race.
