Ealing Trailfinders' Terrific Turnout

At the end of their season, young players from Ealing Trailfinders flocked to the club to challenge the record for the biggest training session and beat it, not by one or two but by 102.

This was passionately supported as it was raising funds for Cancer Research UK, after Tom, one of the club’s Under 15s, was diagnosed with lymphoma. At the last count the event had raised almost £4,000, taking fundraising efforts for Cancer Research to almost £20,000.

EXAMPLE OF RUGBY’S CORE VALUES

Among those there for the event was the RFU Chief Executive, Bill Sweeney, who said “Seeing so many there in support of one of their young players and teammates was a real example of rugby’s core values. It was teamwork in action.”

The Ealing Trailfinders Foundation works to support those who most need it in their community.  At their Easter Holiday Activities & Food Camp, they gave 260 free places for sports activities and hot meals to primary school pupils across three boroughs:  Hillingdon, Hammersmith, and Ealing.  They are planning to repeat this in the summer.

They also gathered tablets from local business and, at a match where the pupils formed a guard of honour, donated them to Featherstone Primary School.
