Fundraiser for Jimmy Peters Statue
In black history month we remember the amazing life and achievements of Jimmy Peters
In 1906 Jimmy Peters became the first black man to play rugby for England. And now Plymouth Albion have launched a funding appeal to build a statue honouring their player, with the hope of having a Jimmy Peters statue at the Brickfields stadium in 2026 as part of Albion’s 150th year celebrations.
The Jimmy Peters Story
A new exhibition at the World Rugby Museum explores Jimmy’s remarkable and inspiring story, from his childhood in the circus to his England selection in 1906.
A Wonderful Grandfather
Jimmy’s granddaughter Barbara remembers him with huge pride and affection.
