Injured Players Keeping Fit
Two RFU Injured Players Foundation clients and fitness experts have been making sure that players seriously injured playing the game have had plenty of support in lockdown in maintaining their mental and physical wellbeing.
Personal trainer and mum of two Dani Watts and Ross Morrison, GB Wheelchair Rugby Paralympian, personal trainer and wellbeing advisor, have been running virtual sessions twice a week to keep everyone motivated and connected.
They were also joined on one of their sessions by former England captain, Lewis Moody.
“It was fantastic to have Lewis joining us. He’s an absolute legend and shared some cracking stories and a few pearls of wisdom. Everyone loved it," said Morrison.
Andy Titterrell Wasps forwards coach and former England and British & Irish Lions player, who retired through injury, has also joined a session to chat and take part in a Q & A with IPF clients.
Ross has also been designing personalised training programmes for clients with high level spinal cord injuries and Dani completed a gruelling 26 steps, helped by a walking frame and callipers, for a 2.6 challenge raising funds for the IPF. She was in training to complete the London Marathon in her wheelchair and still hopes to take part when it returns.
The work of the IPF remains essential, especially with seriously injured players facing additional challenges during the coronavirus crisis. You can donate or discover more at www.rfuipf.org.uk
