Inner Warrior Returns for 2020

Free Warrior camps will take place between 11 January and 9 February 2020, as the Rugby Football Union (RFU) continues to encourage women up and down the country to take up rugby.

The Inner Warrior campaign, now in its third year has seen more than 18,000 women attend a camp to date. New for 2020, the RFU will  support a number of clubs across England in further developing the programme by offering up to five camps across the month which will take place on rugby 365 artificial pitches.

These sessions will be led by an England Rugby Community Coach, who will be on hand to share their expertise and to ensure a safe and enjoyable playing environment for all, giving women a greater opportunity to try the sport out for free, and improve their fitness, confidence, skills and relationships.

“It can often be daunting to try a new sport or get the motivation needed to go along to the gym for the first time,” said Red Roses captain Sarah Hunter. “That’s why warrior camps are the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself, and as a result you can have fun and get fit all at the same time. Warm up activities, learning passing and catching skills, as well as fitness drills are combined to create unique and exciting sessions.”

In addition to this, the RFU has also introduced the Inner Warrior Series for new and developing women’s teams, offering the opportunity for teams to compete and continue to grow without committing to being a part of a league.

More than 60 teams have already signed up to be part of the Inner Warrior Series, with players being offered a flexible approach to competing, from different formats, to different times and locations, providing an approach to exercise and sport that is flexible for busy lifestyles.
