Lowestoft & Yarmouth goes the extra mile
Lowestoft & Yarmouth Rugby Club in the UK’s easternmost town, goes the extra mile when working for their local community
They operate a club minibus which every week picks up people, many of them senior citizens, from the Northern Parishes and takes them to a local Tesco to do their shopping before driving them back home.
The service is free and Cllr Eddie Back and a team of club volunteers operate it. Cllr Back donated £2,000 from his locality budget to help keep the minibus running.
Club members also recently presented a cheque to Grace Beales, having raised over £1500 towards the cost of sending her to Germany to represent Great Britain in gymnastics at the Special Olympics World Games. Grace is a member of The Waveney Gymnastics Club who have three young people at the games which take place in Berlin in June.
