New Guinness World Record for the largest rugby ball mosaic set by Honda UK

2,030 Gilbert rugby balls were used to recreate the Honda logo at Twickenham Stadium, the heart of England Rugby.

Honda Uk has claimed the Guinness World Records title for the largest rugby ball mosaic logo with a  total of 2,030 size-five rugby balls, 813 supporter-quality red balls, and 1,217 training-quality white balls. All the balls were supplied by Gilbert, the official supplier of the England Rugby.

The mosaic covered 104.6m2 – almost the equivalent of 14 Honda HR-V e:HEV’s – inside Twickenham Stadium, the Home of England Rugby.

The record-breaking Honda logo mosaic was subject to stringent quality checks to ensure that it complied with Guinness World Records’ rules, with documentary evidence, including videography, photography, a surveyor's report and independent witness reports.

Earlier this year, Honda announced a multi-year deal with the England Rugby Football Union. The Honda logo is now displayed across the England men’s Under 18s and Under 20s playing and training kits.

Honda is also making a commitment to grassroots games and the record-breaking rugby balls used to form the mosaic are being donated by local Honda dealerships to some 60 grassroots rugby clubs across the UK.

Jean-Marc Streng, Managing Director at Honda UK, added: “We’re delighted to have set a new Guinness World Records title at thee Home of England Rugby. It was an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the game at one of the most iconic stadiums in world sport, while also getting in the record books.

“Power of dreams is the Honda slogan for a reason. Being able to surprise our customers and our colleagues with an activity like this is incredible. It’s unconventional, but it’s also an amazing opportunity – especially because so many deserving local clubs are going to benefit from it. Sports and community are important to us, and we’re looking forward to continuing our pursuit of both.”
