Pupils gain from refereeing rugby

When schools link with local rugby clubs everyone benefits.

The school has encouraged their pupils to consider this as another sporting opportunity. They allowed them access during curriculum time, on the proviso that all their academic work was up to date, and their attendance and behaviour records supported their involvement. Claire says that pupils’ education prospects have benefitted, together with their work ethic and integrity.

Chellaston Academy is just one of many schools where the impact of sport on the development of young people is recognised by teachers, coaches and pupils. Their young people are certainly enjoying the benefits of the Young Match Official Programme.
