RFU pays tribute to Michael Coulman

The Rugby Football Union has paid tribute to England and British & Irish Lions prop Michael Coulman who has died aged 78.

Born in Stafford in May 1944, Mike played club rugby for Moseley was capped nine times for England, and was selected for the 1968 Lions tour to South Africa., starting the third Test against South Africa. He also played for Staffordshire Police and in county rugby for Staffordshire and the North Midlands.

He later signed for Salford and was selected to play for England in the 1975 Rugby League World Cup He also played rugby league for Other Nationalities and Lancashire.

After retiring as a player, he coached Salford for the 1983/84 season.
