Scotland Women v Red Roses: preview, teams and stats

The Red Roses head to Edinburgh on Monday looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Women's Six Nations.

The match has been rearranged after the original kick-off time on Sunday was postponed because of the weather conditions in Glasgow associated with Storm Ciara.

Simon Middleton's side beat France in Pau 19-13 in their opener in defence of their title and come up against Scotland, a team England have not lost to in 21 years.

Last year, England sealed the Grand Slam at Twickenham with an 80-0 victory over the same opponents. England have named a whole new front row for the game with Amber Reed and Emily Scott added to the backline in five changes overall.

Scotland began the tournament with a narrow 18-14 loss in Ireland and have named Tyrrells Premier 15s top scorer Rhona Lloyd on the wing, who is part of 13 players in their matchday squad who play in England's top flight.

VIEWS FROM THE CAMP

Scotland head coach Philip Doyle: “We are under no illusion of how strong England are going to be, but for us it is a matter of playing our type of rugby against them rather than just trying to stop them. We will not make it easy for them at our home ground.

“It will be a great occasion being back at Scotstoun and I hope all of our fans will get behind us for what is sure to be an exciting display of rugby.”

England head coach Simon Middleton: “We’re really looking forward to the game in Glasgow on the back of a strong opening weekend for us. Our strength-in-depth means we’ve had players patiently waiting in the wings for an opportunity and we’ve freshened up the squad and starting XV.

“Scotland have a lot of quality with a number of their players playing in the Tyrrells Premier 15s. We know they’ll present a strong, physical test and it’s vital we match them in every department.

“We were naturally delighted with the performance and result in France. We have had a good week in training and are now very much focused on Sunday’s game in Glasgow.”
