Stourbridge U9s support Harriet’s big haircut
Youngster Harriet Horton-Evans and her Stourbirdge RFC teammates raise awareness of The Little Princess Trust.
Harriet Horton-Evans had decided to have her long blonde hair cut after she read about The Little Princess Trust who make wigs for youngsters who have lost their hair. With help from mum Emma and dad Stephen, she donated 12 inches of hair awhile trying to raise £550 to cover the wig making.
As one of only two girls in the U9s at Stourbridge RFC, she often plays scrum half, and the boys rely on her distributing the ball. But this time it was Harriet relying on their support as messages and pocket money rolled in.
In no time at all her just giving donations had topped the £1,000 mark and mum Emma said: “Harriet started playing a couple of years ago when her younger sister Evelyn was taking an interest and has cousins Archie and Ayrton playing at Stourbridge too.

Team mates donated pocket money
“She absolutely loves the rugby and is already a bit excited about joining the girls’ team when she’s older. I can’t speak highly enough of the coaches, who really look after the two girls who are just part of the squad of 30 and having fun.
“The amount of support she got for the fundraising from her rugby team was absolutely brilliant and she got lots of message along with their pocket money. We’ve never done anything like this before, but Harriet read about the Little Princess Trust and getting her hair cut was less of a big deal than making a big difference to someone going through chemo.”
