Touch, Music and Medway Fun

Medway rugby club prides itself on being a big part of the local community and providing rugby for all ages and abilities.

In the summer that is boosted by touch rugby, the sessions for U13s upwards are now drawing tremendous numbers of as many as 150.

Says club secretary Peter Rann: “It has gradually built up over a number of years. We only charge £1 and have a total mix coming along, families, youth players maintaining their fitness and meeting up with team-mates, and people who only play touch in summer and enjoy it.

“We have great volunteers and helpers here and the clubhouse and bar are open after the sessions. WE also have over 18s touch sessions which involve a lot of our social players and those numbers have grown too.

“Summer touch has really taken off here at Medway. We provide the service, they turn up and have fun with the music playing. It helps bring people to the club and keeps those already here together and involved.”

Summer touch is a great way to stay fit and have fun.

Clubs wanting to join The Touch Union and run their own session can email thetouchunion@rfu.com, and if they're a new centre they get their own starter kit to help them get up and running.
