Go Will
While most small children take a teddy to bed, William Priddy took a rugby ball to cuddle and his dad Greg decorated his bedroom with a Harlequins rugby theme.
Now William, who plays for Chobham U13s is running a mile a day to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research because Greg has been diagnosed with a rare brain tumour and needs intensive chemotherapy. William, mum Jo and sister Amelia will have to completely self-isolate for his return.
While William runs in snow, rain or sunshine, the family have been getting messages from the likes of Danny Care, Ugo Monye, Will Carling and many other rugby players, as well as athletes such as Daley Thompson. Jo and William have also been on Radio Surrey raising awareness of the charity.
William will also be O2’s digital England mascot the day before his 13th birthday as the team take on France in the Six Nations at Twickenham behind closed doors.
William’s fundraising page tells of his dad being fit and healthy, his brain tumour diagnosis in December having “come from nowhere.”
“Then Christmas Eve our world was turned upside down, we had the news that it was cancer. Dad was then referred to St Luke's hospital where he was told on New Year Eve it's a rare tumour. Dad is now going to have to receive chemotherapy where he will stay in hospital for 5/7 days at a time. A teacher at my school taught me in the first lockdown do something positive. So I want to raise money for Brain Tumour Research so more families don’t have to go through what we do. Stay strong dad you can flight this.
