England Rugby and This Woman Runs join forces to empower women
England Rugby is collaborating with This Woman Runs to create a network of community running hubs for women.
The initiative is part of Impact ’25, England Rugby’s legacy programme associated with the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. As part of Impact ’25, England Rugby is committed to promoting inclusive spaces for women and using non-rugby activities to connect communities.
Mel Bound, This Woman Runs founder, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to partner with England Rugby on this initiative that aligns perfectly with our mission at This Woman Runs: empowering women to lead healthier and happier lives through running.
“By joining forces with England Rugby, we’re not only extending our reach and creating new spaces for women to connect and get active but also fostering a sense of community, support and safety within local rugby clubs.
“This partnership truly embodies the spirit of inclusion and empowerment, and we can’t wait to get started!”
Engaging women with rugby
With the Women’s Rugby World Cup heading to England next year, we are seizing the opportunity to engage more women and girls with the sport. The collaboration is designed to encourage women who have not previously visited a rugby club to use the facility, while also strengthening clubs’ positions as community hubs that are open to all.
"We are excited to collaborate with This Woman Runs in creating these community running hubs," said Steve Grainger, Executive Director of Rugby Development at England Rugby.
"This initiative aligns perfectly with our commitment to promoting health and well-being in our communities, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on women across the UK."
