Final champions decided in Continental Tyres Schools Cup at Allianz Stadium

Six schools ventured to the home of English rugby in search of national glory while young girls from across the country got to showcase their rugby skills on the Allianz Stadium turf.

Exeter College battle past a determined Hartpury College

Exeter College 41-33 Hartpury College

Exeter College beat Hartpury College 41-33 to win the ACE Girls League final.

Exeter took the lead early in proceedings when blind-side flanker Rosie Ellis White crossed the whitewash after the Devon School expertly worked the ball out wide and beyond the reach of Hartpury College.

The West Country side answered back with a score of their own from a well-organised lineout, No.8 Darcy Howchin crossing over before scores from full-back Izzy Firth and left wing Scarlett Murgatroyd restored Exeter’s advantage.

Hartpury had grown into the game and ended the first half in the ascendancy after quick-fire tries from Millie Randolph and captain Hannah Smyth.

The restart saw Exeter edge into the lead when replacement Charlotte Mansfield flew down the length of the field for a stunning solo score and while Hartpury’s Taufa Tuipulotu would soon provide instant reply, Exeter narrowed the deficit through inside centre Charlotte Wreford.

Hartpury prop Amelia Lambourn muscled her way over the line minutes later before Exeter pair Lily Taylor and Katherine Dyke wrestled back control of the tie and with it, the trophy.

King’s School, Gloucester surge to U18 Vase triumph

King’s School, Gloucester 29-16 King Edward’s School Birmingham

A strong second-half saw King's School, Gloucester (KGS) lift the U18 Vase after a rousing victory over King Edward's School, Birmingham (KESB).

Full-back Rory Moffitt kicked KESB into the lead with a pair of well-taken penalties before KGS' Henry Marsden got points on the board for his side when he latched onto the ball to dot down.

KESB right wing Ashley Jindu provided an instant reply and was at the heart of the action again as the Midlanders continued to assert themselves in the tie when he touched down for a second time.

After the restart, KGS narrowed the margin when flanker Harri Green raced over the line before finally taking the lead through Kwabena Ofusu-Apea.

Full-back Charlie Stallard then extended his side’s advantage with a pair of tries, the second a dazzling display of individual skill as he artfully dodged past all challengers before touching down.

Harrow School claim back-to-back U18 Cup final wins

Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield 14-22 Harrow School

The last action of the day saw Harrow School pick up their second national rugby trophy in as many years after a 22-10 defeat of Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield (QEGS).

Harrow vice-captain James Talamai powered his side into an early lead before scrum-half Harrison Dunne crossed the white line to extend Harrow’s advantage. The London-based school then added their third of the game through right wing Talal Nsouli before second-row Ollie Moran dived under the sticks, fly-half and vice-captain Patrick Keaveney slotting home the conversion to further widen the gap.

While QEGS would continue to battle, finally scoring points on the board halfway into the second-half when captain Jack Bailey wrestled over the line from a breakdown before the skipper repeated the feat in the dying moments of the game.

Though fly-half Lance Barker would fire home the conversion, that would be as good as it got for the Yorkshire-based side as Harrow became back-to-back champions.
