The Rugby Football Union has paid tribute to former England international Tom Voyce, who has sadly died at the age of 43.

Educated at Penair School in Truro and later King’s College in Taunton, Tom earned his first professional contract at Bath Rugby in 2000.

He won the first of nine England caps one year later against the USA, and went on to score three Test tries for his country.

A prestigious club career at Wasps spanned six years from 2003-2009, where he scored 215 points in 124 appearances, and won three Premiership titles and two European titles.

At Wasps, he scored what was then the quickest try in Premiership history when he gathered a spilt ball from the kick-off against Harlequins and scored in 9.63 seconds.

Stints at Gloucester and London Welsh followed, before he retired from the game in 2013 having made 220 Premiership appearances with a record of 66 Premiership tries.

England Men head coach, Steve Borthwick, said: “It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Tom Voyce, a wonderfully gifted rugby player and a truly lovely man. Tom left a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and created memories that will stay with all who watched him play.

“On behalf of everyone at England Rugby, we extend our deepest condolences to Tom's family, friends, and loved ones. Our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.”
