Lucy Packer

Scrum half Lucy Packer plays in the Allianz Premier 15s for Harlequins and was first called up to train with a senior England squad by Simon Middleton for the 2019 Super Series in San Diego.She made her senior England debut against USA in the 2021 autumn internationals and her first start came against Wales in the 2022 Six Nations. Packer had previously been a member of the Wales Sevens programme. Born in Ammanford, her switch of allegiances was able to take place due to her family lineage. Lucy can trace her English heritage on her father’s side all the way back to one of the most famous players in the history of the game - she plays home games for Harlequins she plays on a ground that is named after her distant relative, Adrian Stoop. Lucy was part of the Red Roses squad that made the Rugby World Cup Final in 2022, and was named in Middleton's squad for the 2023 Six Nations. Later that year, Lucy was named in the Red Roses squad for the inaugural WXV tournament in New Zealand, before retaining her position ahead of the 2024 Six Nations.

What is a Scrum Half?

The scrum half, or number 9, links forwards and backs, taking the ball from the scrum or lineout, and putting pressure on the opposition nine. With a kicking armoury, man management and decision skills, the nine knows when to make breaks or to pass.
