Sarah Beckett
Sarah Beckett made her debut for Firwood Waterloo Ladies at just 18 years old but her sharp progress would have been of little surprise to those who know her well. She made her England debut in November 2018, starting in the Red Roses’ 57-5 defeat of USA Women at Allianz Park. Beckett is the sister of Jersey back row Charlie, while her father Mark represented Waterloo first XV as did her granddad and uncle. The 2016/17 season would be an extremely successful one for Beckett as she lifted the Gill Burns’ Ladies County Championship and the overall Championship with Firwood Waterloo. The back row forward would go on to make her Tyrrells Premier 15s debut for her childhood club in September 2017. Sarah featured in every Six Nations game that year as England won the Grand Slam, before moving to Harlequins and playing in all autumn internationals and 2020 Women’s Six Nations matches. In 2023 Sarah travelled to New Zealand for the inaugural WXV1 tournament, helping the Red Roses to victory in their wins over Australia, Canada and New Zealand. She was recently named in John Mitchell’s squad for the Guinness Women’s Six Nations 2024.

The back row consists of two flankers and the No 8. The blind-side flanker wears six and the open-side flanker seven, both specialising in big tackles and winning possession through turnovers. They are fearless, strong and fast to the breakdown. The No 8 secures the ball at the base of the scrum, is an attacking link between forwards and backs and a real force when defending.
