Lewis Ludlam

Northampton Saints flanker Lewis Ludlam had a meteoric rise into Test rugby after being called into England's Rugby World Cup training squad in 2019.He was one of four uncapped players named in the squad for Japan after making his debut in the warm-up game against Wales at Twickenham. Lewis would feature in four of England's six games and score his maiden international try against USA. At England U20 level, he was voted England’s player of the 2015 World Rugby U20 Championship. He started four matches and produced an outstanding performance in the final against New Zealand at Cremona. Lewis, who began as a centre before moving into the back row, made his full Premiership debut in the first game of the 2017/2018 season against Saracens in the London Double Header at Twickenham, scoring his first senior try for the club. Ludlam was recently named in Steve Borthwick’s squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

Position guide
What is a Back Row?

The back row consists of two flankers and the No 8. The blind-side flanker wears six and the open-side flanker seven, both specialising in big tackles and winning possession through turnovers. They are fearless, strong and fast to the breakdown. The No 8 secures the ball at the base of the scrum, is an attacking link between forwards and backs and a real force when defending.
