Sarah Bern
Sarah Bern started her international career with England U20 as a back row forward, but has since converted to prop where she has thrived. After earning England U20 recognition in 2015, Sarah stepped up to full Test level against France and the USA during the International Women's Rugby Series in 2016. At the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup, Sarah started in four of England’s five games. In the 2019 Women’s Six Nations she started all of England’s games, scoring five tries, as they won the Grand Slam. Her performances during the 2018/19 season saw her voted as the England Women’s Player of the Year. In November 2019, she was shortlisted for World Rugby’s Women’s Player of the Year award and was also shortlisted for TikTok Women’s Six Nations Player of the Championship in 2022. She was part of the Red Roses squad that made the final of the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup, and was named in Simon Middleton’s squad for the 2023 TikTok Women’s Six Nations. Later that year, Sarah was named in the Red Roses squad for the inaugural WXV tournament in New Zealand.

The props prop the hooker on both sides in the front row, push against the opposition props and anchor the scrum. The loose-head prop is on the hooker’s left, his head outside the scrum when it engages, the tighthead packs down to the hooker’s right on the inside, shoring up the scrum with strength.
