England draw with Scotland in Guinness Six Nations

George Ford scored a stoppage-time try to seal a dramatic draw for England after an enthralling encounter against Scotland in the final round of the Guinness Six Nations Championship.

Gone in 60 seconds

Fast starts have been a feature of their Six Nations campaign with early tries against Ireland and France and they were over within 66 seconds with a wonderfully-crafted try at a blustery Twickenham Stadium.

Quick hands from Kyle Sinckler, Owen Farrell, Elliot Daly and Henry Slade released Nowell on the right wing and after creating some space for himself he cut inside to dot down.

Backrow balance

One of England’s emerging stars over the past 12 months has been Curry and following stellar performance throughout the tournament he had a second Six Nations try inside 10 minutes.

A penalty was kicked to the corner and after a short lineout Curry bundled over off the back of the driving maul which Farrell converted for 14-0.

England’s power game saw them cross for a third try, Ellis Genge smashing through Scotland defence, before offloading to Sinckler to do likewise and eventually Launchbury crashed over after throwing a neat dummy.

Farrell sent over a penalty to hit the 400 point mark in Six Nations rugby and the bonus point was sealed via May who crossed for a 14th try in 15 Tests after a sublime offload from Slade.

Scotland were on the board when McInally charged down Farrell’s kick on halfway before collecting the ball and winning the race to England’s try line.

Scotland fightback

To their credit Scotland came roaring back in a thrilling second half, scoring 31 unanswered points to draw level.

Graham wriggled over for a second Scotland try after the break and Magnus Bradbury had a third soon after after neat play from Ali Price.

Scotland had a bonus point with Graham searing over on the right wing before Russell intercepted Farrell's pass on halfway and sprinted home under the posts, also converting his own try for 31-31 on the hour.

Greig Laidlaw missed the chance to give Scotland the lead with a penalty but Johnson jinked his way through England's defence to score under the posts to put them in front.

But there was time for more late drama and with time up Ford found space and sniped through to level the scores after converting his own try.

Reaction

"It shocked us when they got a bit of momentum," said Farrell. "And me more than anyone at times gave that to them.

"We got in a momentum rut and we couldn't get out of it today.

"At half-time the scoreline was pleasing but rugby is a game of momentum and they were on the front foot in the second half."
