England U18 Women name squad for December camp

The final England U18 Women training squad of 2023 has been named by head coach James Cooper.

The side will me meet at the University of Nottingham this weekend (Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 December).

Cooper will be joined by assistant coaches Olivia Perry, Luke Pendlebury, Tom Mowbray and Hannah Edwards as the pathway side ramp up preparations for the 2024 U18 Six Nations Festival next April.

This weekend’s training regime continues the development of Cooper’s cohort, which narrows down to 34 players after the recent internal game between two selected U18 groups on 2 December at Warwick School.

In what is the final meeting of the U18 Women in 2023, Cooper and his staff will have another opportunity to survey the players before confirming the Elite Player Squad in January.

England U18 Women’s head coach James Cooper commented on the upcoming gatherings at the University of Nottingham as an ideal period for growth in his group:

“We were delighted with the success of the recent internal game at Warwick School, it gave us an opportunity to push our players during match scenarios and work on their improvements live in-game with intervals between quarters,” he said.

“The staff and I are now really relishing this weekend as an occasion we’re looking to bring our players further together in their time playing and away from rugby too – we want to put our best foot forward into 2024.”

“It’s been a very important year for this age-grade, with a lot of progress made on and off the field and we’re looking forward to what next year offers with what I believe is a very special group.”
