England U18 Women side to face Wales U18

Head coach James Cooper has named a side to take on Wales U18 in their bicentenary match at Rugby School this weekend.

Sunday's match (KO: 1pm) celebrates 200 years since the game of rugby was born and will be live streamed on England Rugby channels.

Lucy Calladine has been named as captain and at hooker, with Amelia Williams and Lucy Ward the starting props. Jasmine Adonri and Bridget Campbell are the locks, while Anna Richardson, Heidi Pashaei Tarighoun and Annabel Meta form the back row.

Evie Haskell partners Ella Cromack in the halves, and the midfield sees Lauren Knowler and Natalee Evans paired up. The starting wingers are Connie Clarke and Daisy Aspinall, who is also vice-captain. Millie David will wear the number 15 jersey.

Keira Muir, Hannah Sams, Lucie Sams, Kayleigh Priest, Sophie McQueen, Milly Pearce, Lauren Bailey and Sophie Hopkins are Sunday’s replacements.

"Congratulations to all players selected, especially those who've been picked for the first time - they’ve worked very hard to earn the right to pull on an England shirt," said Cooper.

"This bicentenary match is a very important moment celebrating the game we all love, and so the 23 women wearing the rose on Sunday afternoon should savour what will be a highlight of their rugby journeys.

"We’ve had great preparation in camp leading up to this match, and we’re now looking forward to taking on what I’m sure will be a strong Wales side in our first game of 2023."
