Trojans Ladies

Women’s Level 2&3

Women's Championship South West 2: P3 W2 D1

  • 0 – 32 v Drybrook Ladies
  • 24 – 24 v Cullompton Ladies
  • 19 – 7 v Cheltenham Ladies II

Becky Fenn, Trojans captain, said: “On paper February was a great month for us, but the wins we had were hard won, in wet and muddy conditions. To come away with our points, this team had to show real grit and fight, and every single player stepped up to the mark.

“In training, we have been focusing on playing a dynamic, fast paced, and exciting style of rugby, which is hard to pull off in poor conditions, but it’s a credit to this team that we’ve still managed to score some tries that we can be really proud of. The league we’re in is really competitive and to win team of the month is a massive inspiration for the ladies.

Leeds Tykes

Men’s Level 3&4

National League 2 North: P4 W4

  • 22 – 58 v Hull
  • 49 – 6 v Sheffield Tigers
  • 14 – 45 v Preston Grasshoppers
  • 57 – 13 v Billingham

Peter Seabourne, Director of Rugby, said: “The players have worked hard all season and it's a testament to them that it's the second time they have won the award.

“Our standout performance in February has to be the home game against Sheffield Tigers, which was best defensive performance of the season. We kept them try-less, while scoring eight tries of our own.

“We have had a remarkable season to date, but we still have six tough games coming up in the next couple of months where each game will be a massive test.”

Devonport Services

Men’s Level 5

Regional 1 South West: P3 W3

  • 19 – 69 v Weston-Super-Mare
  • 38 – 18 v Lydney
  • 17 – 20 v Exmouth

Fraser Pearson, club secretary, said: “February has been a very successful month For Devonport Services RFC.

“A lot of people are saying we are a National League club in waiting. Our 1st XV’s results are underpinned by a very successful second team who are also having a positive season at level 8. Our joint success is maintaining the momentum for the whole senior club.”

Royal Wootton Bassett

Men’s Level 6

Regional 2 Tribute Severn: P3 W3

  • 27 – 39 v Trowbridge
  • 54 – 0 v Chosen Hill Former Pupils
  • 14 – 52 v Keynsham

Director of Rugby, Alan Low said: "I'm immensely proud of our entire team, and all credit goes to the players across the entire senior section. February started with a number of injuries to 1st XV regulars, so to pick up the award this month shows the strength in depth we have as a club.

“This season, the attitude of our players has been exceptional, and the commitment to reach the goals we set over the summer has resulted in some outstanding performances. Every week as a coaching group we are looking for small improvements and we know there is a lot more to come from this young group. That is the most exciting thing.”

Ilkeston

Men’s Level 7

Counties 1 Midlands East (North): P4 W4

  • 155 – 0 v Boston
  • 42 – 12 v Loughborough
  • 66 – 0 v Birstall
  • 66 – 7 v Southwell

Andrew Evans, Chairman, said: “It has been a fabulous February for the Elks. We have achieved a +310 points difference, which was contributed to by 16 different try scorers.

“February was a good month for our entire club: our second team and U14 teams were also unbeaten, player-coach Jake Lamb made his 200th first XV appearance and scrumhalf Joel Haigh amassed 1000 points for the club.”

Steve Foulkes, Director of Rugby, added: “This promising squad has a very high number of home-grown players and are, I believe still early in their journey, so as we say in Ilkeston: ‘The future’s green’.”

Darlington

Men’s Level 8

Counties 2 Durham & Northumberland: P3 W3

  • 73 – 12 v North Shields
  • 7 – 38 v Redcar
  • 7 – 52 v Sedgefield

Head Coach, Liam Shanahan said: “To pick up three bonus point wins out of three was an achievement everyone at the club is extremely proud of and one that we hope to continue in the latter stages of the season.

“The biggest moment was the win on the road to promotion rivals Redcar, a team that had comprehensively beaten us earlier in the season, to travel to their ground and come away with a 38-7 victory at a ground where we have not always fared so well was the icing on the cake on a particularly strong month.”

Old Elthamians

Men’s Level 9-12

Counties 3 Kent: P3 W3

  • 64 – 0 v Hastings & Bexhill
  • 5 – 90 v New Ash Green
  • 20 – 55 v Sittingbourne

Director of Rugby Gavin Lach said: “It’s been a record-breaking season so far for Old Elthamians. We have a perfect record with 15 bonus point wins; we sit proudly on top of our league with promotion already secured.

“Considering the club almost folded after the pandemic and we built our squad from scratch, what the lads have achieved so far this season has been nothing short of incredible.

“The most pleasing aspect has been that with a few exceptions, the vast majority of our squad have all come up through our excellent youth section. It’s a very young squad of home-grown talent and will only get better as they gain more experience.”
