Congratulations to the Teams of October...

Sheffield Women

Women’s Level 2&3

Women’s Championship North 2 Results: P2, W2

  • 52-5 v Driffield Ladies
  • 17-35 v Harrogate Ladies

"We have made a really strong start this season," says coach Clarissa Murphy. "We are seeing the efforts of the players turning up every week and now the cold nights are setting in their commitment has continued to remain high.

"Driffield was our first home game of the season and whilst it was a physically challenging game, the players showed their intent to play some exciting rugby. October also saw us take on Harrogate in a close knit affair, meeting the side for the first time in five years. We have progressed a lot over that time and it was great to have a Yorkshire derby again.

"We’re only two months into a very exciting season. It’s an honour to already be seeing that fruition into England Rugby's Team of the Month."

Leeds Tykes

Men’s Level 3&4

National League 2 North Results: P3, W3

  • 29-50 v Sheffield Tigers
  • 53-21 v Preston Grasshoppers
  • 30-17 v Fylde

Leeds Tykes take October’s Team of the Month for Men’s Level 3 and 4 with three wins from three in October. They are undefeated in all eight games so far this season and have earned a try bonus point in every game.  Winger Harry Jukes is the team’s top try scorer with seven tries across October’s games and 13 tries across this season.

"As a playing group the lads are young, hungry and keen to learn and get better and most importantly enjoy being around the environment everyone has created," says Attack Coach Pete Lucock. "We are chuffed to be voted team of the month for October. It’s a reward for the improvement week on week, but as a group we will always be looking for growth and ways to develop as the season goes on.

"Our success in October has come from the work that the coaching staff and players put in over pre-season. With a focus on core skills and how we want to play as a team we built it up from the bottom and continue to build layers and evolve as a team. Every week as a coaching staff we are looking for improvements and we know there is a lot more to come which is the most exciting thing."

Trojans Ladies ||

Women’s Level 4 to 6

Women’s NC 3 South West (South) Results: P2, W2

  • 5-78 v Poole Women
  • 22-31 v Portsmouth Valkyries Ladies ll

"We are so proud of everyone in the team this month, we have had a great start to our season, the commitment from players old and new is great," say co-captains Ellie Musson and Lauren Bell.

"We are improving week-on-week, both as a cohesive team and as individual players; we see confidence on the pitch improving all the time. Four players have scored their first ever try on a rugby pitch already this season. We love leading this team no matter what happens on the pitch, they will always do us proud. You will not find a better group to play alongside."

Rossendale RFC

Men’s Level 5

Regional 1 North West Results: P2, W2

  • 106-14 v Penrith
  • 36-60 v Macclesfield

"I'm immensely proud of our team, and all credit goes to the players," says Head Coach Byron McGuigan. "This season, the environment surrounding our players has been exceptional, fostering a brilliant atmosphere. The commitment to training has reached its peak, resulting in outstanding performances.

"Our group prides itself on togetherness, hard work, and keeping smiles on our faces. I strongly believe that at the amateur club level, coaches should recognise that players spend their days at work. Introducing extensive meetings and overwhelming details detracts from the fun.

"It's crucial for coaches to understand that we can significantly impact how players feel after a long workday, especially when things aren't going as planned. By creating the right environment, we can use rugby as an escape, allowing players to forget the challenges and simply have fun."

Ludlow RFC

Men’s Level 6

Regional 2 Midlands West Results: P3, W3

  • 56-3 v Berkswell & Balsall
  • 28-33 v Hereford
  • 19-21 v Worcester

"We started the month with a strong win at home to Berkswell & Balsall, but it was the win against local rivals Hereford where we really showed our potential. We will continue to train hard, with a focus on enjoyment and the aim of getting higher up the league table," said Head Coach Mike Jones.

Forwards Coach Charlie Doyle added: "Going from back-to-back losses at the start of the season to undefeated in October is a real testament of the lads' character. The win on the road against local rivals Hereford was the icing on the cake. A tough place to go but the lads played unbelievably well."

London Scottish Lions

Men’s Level 7

Counties 1 Herts/Middx Results: P3, W3

  • 34-19 v Finchley
  • 7-69 v Enfield Ignatians
  • 10-34 v Welwyn

Promoted this season, London Scottish Lions have convincingly won each of their three games in October with 137 points scored and only 36 conceded, their feat is particularly impressive given that two of their three games were on the road.

In their latest victory against Enfield Ignations, Nick Hill scored four tries, Fergus Chapman picked up a hat-trick while Ollie Boyes, Noah Callaghan, Lachlan Lowick and Angus Dandie all got their names on the scoresheet.

"Victory at home to Finchley was the toughest encounter with our opposition sitting top of the league," says club captain Angus Clogg. "Unhindered by Storm Babet the boys put in strong shifts to back-up that great result against Enfield and Welwyn in very soggy conditions – it's fair to say we have a few lads that prefer the sunshine."

Redruth ||

Men’s Level 8

Counties 2 Tribute Cornwall Results: P3, W3

  • 45-21 v St Austell ll
  • 17-36 v Liskeard-Looe
  • 0-63 v Newquay Hornets

Redruth sit at second in the league, behind Saltash, but have a game-in-hand. Winger Henry Eddy has scored in each of Redruth’s October games, contributing to the team’s 105 points difference.

"It’s been a good month with some good team performances," said head coach Richie Kevern. "We have had mostly away games which in the past have been games we have slipped up on but this month shows the growth the 2nd XV have had. Huge credit to all involved and the coaching staff who help run this side."

Harbury

Men’s Level 9 to 12

Counties 3 Midlands West (South) Results: P3, W3

  • 20-42 v Kenilworth ll
  • 0-53 v Bedworth
  • 57-0 v Old Leamingtonians ll

"We've enjoyed a fantastic month in October, 152 points, 24 tries, and conceding just three tries," says head coach Josh Biggs. "Notable highlights from this period include our victory over a very strong Kenilworth team, despite having 10 of our 1st XV players away in France for the World Cup.

"We also beat the league leaders Bedworth with a resounding 53-0 win, and defeated our local rivals Old Leamingtonians 57-0. However, the most significant achievement in my opinion is the sense of unity we have among all the teams within our club, creating a strong 'one club' spirit."
