Hoppers Huge Community Effort
As Preston Grasshoppers prepared to become one of a number of rugby clubs serving as local coronavirus vaccination centres across the country, they heard that supplies were running particularly low at The Salvation Army Foodbank in Preston.
Always ready to answer the call, the Hoppers rugby family dropped off donations at the club, staying within Government guidelines, and the much needed food eventually filled seven cars from tailgates to the front seats. Sarah Burke, their U10s manager, was the original driving force behind the club’s foodbank help set up last year.
Alongside this, a PayPal Pool for cash donations was set up which will enable the foodbank to use their bulk buying arrangements with suppliers to further bolster the items on offer to the families needing help. At the time of writing, cash donations stood at over £1,500.
