Jacob's bionic arm gets top billing
Jacob Pickering is ten years old and plays for Blackburn Rugby Club. The fact that he has only one hand doesn’t deter him on the pitch and now he’s acquired an amazing 3-D printed bionic arm for when he’s off it.
Jacob goes to Feniscowles Primary School and before Christmas his British made bionic arm was gifted to him by the Tej Kohli Foundation. The Foundation’s co-founder Tej Kohli has committed to funding ten bionic arms for young people in the UK.
At Twickenham’s England v Wales Guinness Six Nations match Luke was a mascot. He met the Prime Minister, ran out with the team and after the match showed players his bionic arm in the players’ tunnel.
The other mascots were very impressed when Jacob demonstrated how his arm works and his mum, Kathryn said: “When he got his arm at Christmas time the first thing he said was now he could shake the Prime Minister’s hand and he was amazed to meet him and shake hands at Twickenham.”
Jacob added: “It was the best day of my life and I really enjoyed meeting the players and showing them my arm.”
