Players react to finishing third at the Rugby World Cup

England's players react to the 26-23 win over Argentina in the Rugby World Cup Bronze Medal final in Paris.

Owen Farrell: "Proud we found a way to win tonight, we started the game well, and it got scrappy. Another six day turnaround after a tough and narrow loss last week, I thought it was a great effort tonight. You have to be able to play rugby a few different ways and we're working on that. We're getting better, this team keeps improving, but we had a proper crack at this tournament and we're proud of the effort we put in."

Theo Dan: "We made it hard for ourselves having got off to a great start, we hoped that we would have pushed on after the first 20, but we knew Argentina weren't going away. Our ill discipline let them back into the game but we're a team that grinds out results and I'm very proud to be part of this team and get the bronze medal."

Ben Youngs: "We're pleased to end with a win. Ultimately we wanted to be here tomorrow night, we couldn't do that, but tonight is a nice one.

"The game has given me so much, I have great friendships and bonds, not just in this England team but also with people I've played against for years. Rugby is a special sport, you have this bond, and I have a bucket load of memories that will last long beyond my career. I am very grateful, I'm pleased we were able to get the win and I'll have a beer and enjoy the company of the boys one last time."

Sam Underhill: "It is a bit surreal. It's been a great few weeks, I've loved being part of this group. It is an honour to represent your country and being able to send off as many storied players as we are, it is amazing to be part of it. We just stuck to our game plan, we didn't panic. A lot of the lads know it is the last 20 minutes of these games that matter. We stuck to our plan and that is testament to them."

Courtney Lawes: "It's been a weird week, but I am very content with my years of service, and I'm looking forward to seeing this team push on in the future and hopefully giving it a really good crack next World Cup. Cohesion is the biggest thing for us, we haven't spent much time together, there's more time now and we have to take a step forward each time we take the field."

Steve Borthwick: "It was a very tight game. It wasn't a game of incredible high quality but one of high tension. It was a game of very fine margins, with two teams that wanted to find a way to get the win.

"Immense credit to Argentina for the way they played tonight and the way they have gone through this tournament. You can see both teams have progressed through it and while it wasn't a classic of free-flowing rugby, it was a tight affair."
