Rugby family there for Billy
Billy Thompson loves mini rugby at Effingham and Leatherhead RFC where his dad Jamie is a senior player and coach. Now, Billy having been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour, the club and the rugby community are rallying around his family.
His Aunt Christina says on a Just Giving page: “Every day with Billy is a precious gift, and we want to make his last months truly special.”
His club recently hosted Billy’s Superhero Sunday with players and coaches donning superhero costumes and raising funds for the Billy Thompson’s Journey campaign which “aims to provide support for his family so they can be there every step of the way, creating moment of joy and laughter and memories they can cherish for ever.”
Surrey RFU and other rugby clubs have been lending their support to Billy, his parents, Jamie and Ellie, and six-year-old sister Maddie.
