Hunter wins Pat Marshall Memorial Award

Red Roses captain Sarah Hunter was named Rugby Union Writers' Personality of the Year for 2022.

Hunter became England’s most capped international last year when surpassing Rocky Clark’s 137 Tests, as she led England on a 30-game winning run that ended in defeat to New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup final.

She is the third woman to win the award, following in the footsteps of Maggie Alphonsi and Emily Scarratt.

Scarratt was on hand to help commentator Nick Heath present Hunter with the award, after the Allianz Premier 15s match between Loughborough Lightning and Worcester Warriors Women.

"This is really special," said Hunter. "I genuinely didn't think I'd get anywhere close to getting this so it is very special and means an awful lot."
