World Rugby Award Nominees Announced
Nominees for this year's World Rugby Awards have been announced.
Selected by World Rugby Awards panels, nominees in nine categories will be announced throughout the day.
Fans can cast their vote on social media and select their winners for the two International Rugby Players Men’s and Women’s Try of the Year categories until Thursday, 17 November at 23:59 GMT.
Women’s 15s Breakthrough Player
- Maud Muir (ENG)
- Vitalina Naikore (FIJ)
- Maiakawanakaulani Roos (NZL)
- Ruby Tui (NZL)
Maud Muir made her senior debut against New Zealand off the bench in the 2021 autumn internationals and featured in all four matches, earning her first start against the USA at Sixways Stadium. She started England’s 2022 Six Nations match against Scotland, was part of the team to secure the Grand Slam, and featured prominantely throughout the Red Roses' World Cup campaign.
Men’s 15s Breakthrough Player

Henry Arundell was the Player of Match against Scotland on his U20 debut last February. He burst onto the scene for London Irish and gained his first call up for a senior England training squad after only six Premiership appearances. He made his debut against Australia at 19 years old, marking the occasion with a try in the first test.
Coach of the Year

Simon Middleton joined the RFU in 2014, taking a role as assistant coach for the Rugby World Cup in France where England were crowned champions. In 2015 he became Red Roses head coach, and during his tenure he has guided England to Six Nations Grand Slams in 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2022, as well as two World Cup finals. His side achieved 30 consecutive wins, the longest ever run in women’s or men’s Test rugby history.
Women’s Try of the Year

- Linda Djougang (IRE) - Ireland vs Wales
- Nomawethu Mabenge (RSA) South Africa vs Spain
Abby Dow's try came during England's 26-19 victory over Canada in the 2021 Rugby World Cup semi-final. The initial break came from Claudia MacDonald on her own try line, who provided a long pass to Dow on the right wing. Her speed was no match for the Canadian defenders as she crossed the whitewash.
Women's 15s Player of the Year

England flanker Alex Matthews was one of the youngest players in the England squad to lift the Rugby World Cup trophy back in 2014. A versatile player in both 15s and sevens codes, she has been a key figure in Simon Middleton's record-breaking squad.
