Kildunne and Jones named in Team GB Women's Rugby Sevens squad for Paris 2024 Olympics Games
Red Roses Ellie Kildunne and Meg Jones have been named in the Team GB Women's Rugby Sevens squad for Paris 2024 Olympics Games.
Jones will play at her second Olympic games after co-captaining GB at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, where the team finished fourth.
Kildunne, who scored nine tries in this year’s Guinness Six Nations to be the tournament’s top try scorer, has previously played England Sevens but will make her Olympic debut this summer.
After featuring in the Red Roses’s successful Guinness Six Nations title defence, Kildunne and Jones both played in the HSBC SVNS 2024 Grand Final in Madrid ahead of selection.
They will be joined by several familiar faces; all but three of the Team GB squad and reserves are English and have played representative rugby for England.
Head Coach Ciaran Beattie said: “We want to be competitive in Paris and approach each match as one that can be won, with the ultimate aim of medalling, at the same time being respectful of the huge quality of other teams.”
