The Red Roses have won the tournament on two occasions in 1994 and 2014, and have finished top of their group in each tournament they have played in. 

Australia's best finish at the tournament came in 2010, when they finished third, while USA were the first team to win the tournament in 1991 and were beaten by the Red Roses in 1994's final. Samoa are making their fourth appearance at the tournament, their first since 2014.

England will also play in the opening game of the tournament at Sunderland's Stadium of Light on 22 August 2025, while the full match schedule will be announced on Tuesday 22 October. 

The world number ones recently secured a second successive WXV 1 title after beating Canada 12-21 in Vancouver.
