Safer Recruitment
The RFU is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Children and adults at risk are entitled to participate in rugby union activities in a safe and welcoming environment. The RFU uses the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to operate and manage a criminal record checking process for those working with children, which helps shape a safe and welcoming environment.
The DBS process is a key aspect of safer recruitment procedures that enable clubs or Constituent Bodies (CBs) to reduce the risk of abuse to children and adults at risk. When recruiting employees or volunteers who work with children or adults at risk, all reasonable steps must be taken to ensure only suitable people are selected.

If your club doesn’t have child members but has adults at risk participating in club activity, you must ensure your club follows the same safer recruitment guidelines.
